North Indian Daal Fry By Shai Ayoub

North Indian Daal Fry


1cup toor Daal (oily)

1 tsp salt

3 cups water

3 tbsp ghee

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 tsp crushed coriander seeds

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp Garam masala

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 onion finely sliced

2 tomatoes chopped

fresh coriander/ cilantro


1. Boil the toor daal oily in water and salt until salt and set aside.

2. heat ghee in a pan and the cumin seeds, turmeric, crushed coriander, chilli powder, ground Garam masala.

3. Add the ginger and garlic paste followed by the onion fry a few minutes then add the tomatoes.

4. Cook to jammy consistency then add cooked toor dal and adjust the consistency by adding more water. Bring the dal to a boil, then simmer 10 minutes or so and garnish with cilantro leaves.
