Chick Peas Pilau By Shai Ayoub

Mums Chick peas pilau


3 cups basmati rice

2 medium onions chopped

1 tbs ginger garlic paste

1 can chick peas can

2 medium tomatoes chopped

1 black cards my

2 green cardamom

1 x1”cinnamon stick

3-4 cloves

3-4 peppercorns

1 tsp salt according to your taste

1/4-1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp Garam masala


1. Heat pan on medium heat add 1/2 cup oil once the oil is hot add whole cumin seeds let it sizzle then add cardamoms cloves & peppercorns let it cook for 4-5 seconds

2. Add the onions cook until onions turn golden brown now add ginger garlic paste cook for a min add tomatoes until it blends with onions(wash rice and keep it aside).

3. Now add the chick peas and mix well with the spices keep stirring for 5 -10 min now add the rice and mix it with rest add 4 cups water bring to boil until little water is left stirring it once lower the heat (very low heat)cover the pan with foil and put the lid on,cook for 25 -30min the turn off the heat.

4. Leave the lid on for 10min then serve the dish.
