Chicken Keema with Peas and Potatoes

Mums Chicken keema recipe


1/2 kg chicken Keema

2 medium onions chopped

1.5 cups chopped tomatoes

1 tbsp garlic ginger paste

3-4 cloves

1 piece cinnamon stick

2-3 green cardamom

2 black cardamom

3-4 black pepper corn

1 medium potatoes chopped

1 cup fresh or frozen peas

3-4 curry leaves

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder ( or how hot one wants the curry)

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp Garam masala

1/2 tsp paprika powder

1/4 mace powder

1/4 tsp nutmeg powder

1.5 tsp salt or according to taste

1 tbs natural yoghurt,chopped coriander for garnish


Heat a pan dry roast the cinnamon cardamoms cloves pepper corn and 1 tsp of whole cumin seeds when it starts to warm after a minute add 1.5 cups of oil let the oil heat then add the onions mix well and sauté until its golden brown, now add garlic/ ginger paste stir well for a min then add the chopped tomatoes mix well stir until the tomatoes blends with the onions and leaves the oil now add all the other spices one at a time and stir on medium heat add the yoghurt mix well until it blends with the spices now add the potatoes chicken keema and peas (add curry leaves whilst adding onions)mix and stir well(if the mixture is dry add oil)mix well keep stir until the colour starts changing and oil leaves the mixture(it’ll take about 15-20 min)now cook on low heat cover and simmer for 10min or the mince and potatoes are well cooked,garnish with coriander.
